Pixie Lights was created in 2023 from a simple but powerful truth: in a world that rarely slows down, we all need a place to return to. A sanctuary. A spark. A moment of stillness.

Founded by Cornish artisan Leanne Stapleton, Pixie Lights is deeply rooted in the folklore of Cornwall — a land where pixies dance on the moors, shadows whisper ancient secrets, and tiny guardians of light guide travellers home. Though now based in Derbyshire, Leanne carries this heritage into every candle, blending old‑world magic with modern ritual to help you create peace, balance, and emotional grounding in your home.

After years in the high‑pressure property and telecommunications sector, Leanne saw how stress, uncertainty, and the post‑Covid world reshaped people’s emotional wellbeing. Her own journey toward balance — through meditation, ritual, and the simple act of lighting a candle — became the foundation of Pixie Lights.

A flame became a sanctuary. A ritual became a lifeline. And that ritual now lives in every candle we pour.

Folklore That Sparked the Flame: Omfra & Joan the Wad

Pixie Lights is inspired by the mischievous, magical, and protective spirits of Cornish legend — especially two iconic figures:

 

Omfra the Pixie

A playful, elusive pixie known for guiding wanderers through the wild Cornish landscape. Omfra represents intuition, curiosity, and the spark of inner fire — the very qualities that inspired our bold, introspective Shadow Spire collection. Yet Omfra's story goes deeper, as he goes out in the world and lost his laugh, his friends all gathered to help him search for it with there torchlights. A reminder that even in the dark times we can return to our own light, coming together with others we can raise a smile a laugh, a mood and we do better together than apart.

Joan the Wad

The Queen of the Pixies, bringer of good luck, and keeper of the flame. In Cornish lore, Joan the Wad’s light helps travellers find their way home through darkness. Her spirit lives within our Sanctuary collection — warm, comforting, and protective.
