Meet Pixie Lights at the Market: What to Expect in Derby

Candles are best chosen with your nose, and that is exactly why we love markets. Pixie Lights began in 2023 with our founder, Leanne, who has 30 years of candle-making behind her, and a stall is still the best place to meet the people who pour them. Here is what to expect from our candle stall at Derby Market Hall.

Where and when

You will find us at Derby Market Hall on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, from 10am to 4pm. As Derbyshire candle makers, we also take part in other Derby markets and artisan events around Derbyshire, so keep an eye on our events page for what comes next.

What to expect

A market stall is a chance to take your time. Pick up a tin, lift the lid and see which scent stops you. Fruity, spiced, woody or fresh, you will soon know what feels right. If you are not sure where to start, tell us what mood you want for your home and we will happily point you somewhere lovely.

If you are looking for handmade candles Derby has to offer, every candle and wax melt we sell is hand-poured in small batches in Derbyshire. Our container candles use CocoSoy wax with lead-free cotton wicks, and the tins and jars are made to be reused or recycled once the candle is finished. Our range is vegan and cruelty-free, too.

Ask us anything

Markets are a good time to ask the questions that never fit on a label. How do I stop tunnelling? How long will it last? Which scent suits a small room? Our quick answers: let the wax melt to the edges on the first burn, trim the wick to about 5mm, and choose a softer Sanctuary blend for smaller spaces.
